The problem
Remembering a filename does not guarantee a search result. Scope, filters, permissions and index state can all reduce the result set.
A practical answer
Inspect the current search conditions and check whether the file opens at its original path. The toolbar and global shortcut use the same search capability, so changing entry points alone does not widen scope.
Step by step
- Enter a distinctive name fragment and press Return.
- Review source, type, time and size filters and remove restrictions that do not fit.
- Confirm the relevant drive is online and the directory authorized; allow unfinished indexing to complete.
- If the file opens by path but remains absent, record version, query and source settings for support before moving or deleting anything.

Know the limits
There is no universal instantly complete index for every source. A filename match also does not demonstrate successful full-text search.
Common question
Should I authorize every folder again?
No. Check the specific directory involved and keep the access scope clear.
