GJ FILE MANAGER · FIELD NOTES

Run a Last-Pass Quality Check on a Mac Delivery Folder Before Sending

A working project often mixes drafts, assets, and final files. This workflow separates the delivery area, verifies converted outputs, and compares files before sending—so recipients get exactly what was approved.

Why a final delivery check matters

A working project can contain drafts, assets, and final files together. Compressing everything may send an old draft or internal note along with the intended delivery. Names such as final and final-revised do not explain what changed. This workflow creates a dedicated delivery folder, verifies any converted outputs, and compares file versions before the folder is sent. Keep the original working area untouched; copy selected files into a separate, clearly named Delivery folder.

Build a separate delivery folder in GJ File Manager

In GJ File Manager, create a clearly named Delivery folder and open it in its own tab. Copy the required files from their sources into this folder, inspecting name conflicts rather than replacing blindly. Check each item against your delivery list: name, content, version, and whether it opens. A file group is not an automatically assembled delivery package; it organizes access, so copy the actual files. If an archive is needed, compress this checked folder, inspect the package, and retain a copy of the delivery.

Verify converted files before accepting them

A completed conversion task tells you an output was produced, not that it satisfies the delivery. Locate the output through GJ File Manager and review it in a suitable reader or player. Inspect output names, count, and formats when the task finishes. Then check important document sections, tables, and pages; image size and orientation; and audio beginnings, endings, and important passages. Keep the source and record the recipient’s required format and purpose. Content-level conversion does not promise complex document layout fidelity, and spot-checking a few passages does not establish completeness throughout a long document. If something differs, adjust settings from the original and only deliver reviewed results.

Compare versions before synchronizing anything

GJ File Manager can compare files or folders so you can inspect missing and changed items before deciding whether to synchronize. Select the two sample text files and use the configured Compare shortcut (default ⌥⌘D). Inspect missing, different, and matching items, checking both paths. For supported text files, inspect the text differences. Equal file counts do not establish equal content, and a comparison cannot decide client requirements, confidentiality, or final approval for you. If synchronization is needed, back up first and confirm its direction and mode. Viewing differences and executing synchronization are separate steps; mirroring can remove destination-only content, so review the result before choosing an operation.

Keep originals safe and separate from Finder

The original working area stays in Finder or elsewhere; this workflow only copies checked files into a delivery folder in GJ File Manager. Finder is where you keep and organize the originals; GJ File Manager is where you assemble and inspect the delivery set. After copying, compare the delivery folder against the intended source set. If anything is missing or outdated, fix the copy—not the original. Retain a copy of the final delivery folder or archive so you can resend or reference it later without touching the originals.
